"I was a counselor this past year at Gan Izzy, Houston. And thinking back I only have great memories! But what most sticks out in my mind is the devotion that the shluchim Rabbi and Mrs. Vidal have in order to make camp not just good but the best. It was really this devotion that empowered us counselors to give camp the most.
And camp thank G‑d was the perfect balance of Judiasm and fun filled with trips and clubs, sports and art in crafts, swimming and so much more. At the end of the day a smile was always plastered on the kids faces attesting to the great day they just had. Houston Texas was the most incredible experience I have been privileged to have. I thought that I was giving to a worthwhile cause. And it was!!
But the value of camp far exceeded what I could give- the returns were the biggest profit I made. What I learnt from my adorable campers, wonderful Shluchim and legendary parents was that giving never reaches a dead end. I gained and learned so many amazing things from the community and people. The warmth in Texas extends far beyond its weather thermometer -it reaches out from the kindheartedness that can never be measured. I am so grateful and happy to have shared this summer with many special people- keep up the Texan heat ;)
